Chapter Twenty-Five

Cash invited Sophie over to Gloria’s place to help him move. He was parked outside the house with his trunk open, and he and Sophie were going back and forth from the house to his car moving his belongings on a chilly, cloudy day.

He could have easily made his move in the morning after Gloria went to work and disappeared from her life without her knowing what went down. But he wanted to parade his new bitch in front of Gloria. So he purposely waited until late afternoon so she could get the shock of her life.

“So you used to live here?” Sophie asked, looking around the house.

“Yeah, don’t remind me,” Cash replied dryly.

“This bitch don’t have any style. Her place is so whack.”

“Well, I was homeless for a minute.”

“You should have stayed homeless then,” she joked.

Sophie went through the woman’s house, going through her drawers and closet, invading the woman’s privacy. She even went looking inside Gloria’s medicine cabinet.

Cash and Sophie were smiling and laughing, looking all booed up when Gloria pulled into her driveway, arriving from work.

Seeing Cash with another woman on her porch caused Gloria to frown. She noticed his car trunk open and all of his things protruding out from it. She climbed out of her car with urgency and stormed their way.

“What is this?” she hollered. “What are you doing, Cash?”

“What the fuck do it look like? I’m moving the fuck out.”

Sophie looked at Gloria. “Cash, you was fuckin’ this old lookin’ bitch? Nigga, I know you got better taste than this.”

“Excuse me!”

“Bitch, you heard me!” She turned to Cash and bluntly asked him, “How you gonna put your dick in this bitch’s dried-up pussy?”

“Bitch, you need to watch your mouth in my house!”

“I don’t need to do shit, bitch! My nigga don’t want you anymore. He found better.”

“Don’t you disrespect me at my own house. You don’t know me, bitch!”

Cash said, “And you don’t fuckin’ know me.”

Sophie was in Gloria’s face with her hands, screaming and yelling. It got to the point where Sophie spit in Gloria’s face. It was as if it was happening in slow motion. You could visibly see the spit spew from Sophie’s mouth, fly through the air, and just as it was landing on Gloria’s face, the left hook came.

Gloria assaulted Sophie with a left punch to her face, knocking her back. She continued to pound on the young girl like she was Laila Ali. The girl’s face went right to left from the combination of blows.

Cash, caught off guard by her punches, stood there looking dumbfounded.

“Bitch, don’t you ever spit in my fuckin’ face and disrespect me!” Gloria shouted.

Sophie’s face was bloody, and her eye was black.

Cash ran toward Sophie and took the poor girl into her arms and looked at Gloria like she was crazy.

“How could you?” Gloria whined. “I took you in, and I helped you out, Cash. And you do this to me?” The tears leaked from her eyes and trickled down her face.

Cash looked at Gloria like she was the one who did wrong.
